| The
healthiest and most natural choice for replacement of missing teeth
are Dental implants. Implants function and feel exactly like healthy
natural teeth. Implants promote bone growth and thus prevent the
progressive loss of bone that occurs when teeth are lost.
Dental implants are metal posts that are surgically
inserted into the jaw bone. As they heal, they form an extremely
strong bond with the bone. Implants will support the construction
of artificial teeth with individual crowns, bridges or dentures.

Invisalign
Invisible Braces |
|
Now
it is possible to straighten teeth without wearing unsightly metal
braces! With the use of 3-D computer technology, a series of clear
Invisalign aligners are custom fabricated. The aligners are traded
out every two weeks until the teeth are perfectly straightened and
the bite is corrected. Invisalign is an appropriate orthodontic
treatment for both adolescents and adults. When wearing their aligners,
patients can speak and function very comfortably. Invisalign aligners
are highly cosmetic, and practically “invisible.” The
aligners are worn 24 hours a day until treatment is completed. They
should be removed when eating, for periodic professional cleanings
and for daily brushing and flossing. Since the aligners can be removed
for cleaning purposes, patients are better able to maintain optimal
dental and periodontal health during their orthodontic care. Invisalign
is a healthy, highly esthetic way to straighten teeth! |

| Porcelain
Veneers |
|
Thanks
to modern advancements in porcelain technology, Dr. Mascherin can
beautify your smile with the help of cosmetic porcelain veneers.
If the teeth are extremely discolored, chipped, broken or uneven,
porcelain veneers can dramatically improve the appearance of your
smile. Porcelain veneers can also be used to cosmetically straighten
teeth, close spaces, and to enhance tooth color and shape. |

A
crown (commonly called a “cap”) is needed when a tooth
is badly decayed or fractured. Recent advances in porcelain technology
have provided us with materials that are not only highly esthetic,
but are quite durable and strong. Cosmetic crowns not only repair
badly damaged teeth, but can be used to cosmetically straighten
teeth and mask unsightly discolorations. |

Inlays and Onlays |

Teeth
that are fractured or have large, unsightly silver fillings can
be beautifully repaired with tooth colored onlays. Cosmetic onlays
will restore strength to weakened molars and bicuspids. The onlay
will blend into the natural tooth color. They are highly esthetic. |

Cosmetic
“Tooth-Colored” Fillings |
|
For
centuries, silver fillings (commonly called amalgams) were used
to repair fractured or decayed teeth. Today our patients can enjoy
the benefits of beautiful “tooth-colored” fillings (composite
resins). Advances in composites have provided us with beautiful
tooth colored fillings that are as strong as metal fillings. Composite
resin fillings restore strength to the teeth, are healthier and
are highly cosmetic. |

Tooth
whitening is a procedure that lightens the internal color of the
teeth. It is an extremely safe process. Its effects last for many
years, and are quite frequently permanent. One common side effect
of whitening is temporary sensitivity of the teeth and/or gums.
The sensitivity generally lasts no more than one to two days and
is completely reversible. |

fill gaps between the front teeth or reshape unesthetic teeth. |

A
bridge is an alternative for tooth replacement if you are missing
one or more teeth. Bridgework involves crowning two or more teeth
and connecting the crowns with a false tooth or teeth. Bridges are
cemented firmly onto the crowned teeth and function exactly like
natural teeth. They are made of porcelain materials and are highly
esthetic and comfortable. |

Gum
Disease Therapy and Prevention |
|
Periodontal
disease (commonly known as “gum disease”) is a prime
cause of tooth loss in the United States today. You might be surprised
to learn that 80% of the adult population exhibits some form of
periodontal disease. There are often no warning signs of gum disease
and it can take a period of months or even years for symptoms to
develop. Common symptoms of periodontal disease include bleeding,
red or swollen gums, pain, loose teeth and bad breath. Aggressive
intervention, followed by regular examinations and cleaning appointments
are essential to treat and control the progression of gum disease.
Many new treatments are available to help patients avoid tooth loss
due to periodontal disease, including ultrasonic cleanings, placement
of antibiotic agents into infected sites, and gum surgery. |

For
patients who have lost their natural teeth due to gum disease, tooth
decay or injury, a complete denture will provide a beautiful smile,
as well as improved function and speech. To improve the stability
of the denture, it is best to place some dental implants to help
support the denture. Dental implants enhance the health and stability
of the gums and bone, and will promote bone growth. Implants supporting
a denture will prevent the progressive loss of bone that occurs
when patients have worn dentures for many years. |
